Dal 9 al 13 aprile

In collaborazione con Tieraerztepool.de (in quel momento attorno alle 5'086 operazioni nel 2018 ) sono stati sterilizzati/castrati 120 cani e 90 gatti.

Dal 21 al 26 novembre

In collaborazione con Tieraerztepool.de (in quel momento attorno alle 9'000 operazioni nel 2018 ) sono stati sterilizzati/castrati 122 cani e 30 gatti.

Dal 21 al 25 maggio

sempre in collaborazione con Tieraerztepool.de sono stati sterilizzati/castrati 186 animali.

Dal 30 luglio al 3 agosto

In collaborazione con Tieraerztepool.de sono stati sterilizzati/castrati 164 animali.

Dal 14 al 17 novembre

In collaborazione con Tieraerztepool.de sono stati sterilizzati/castrati 149 animali.

Campagne di sterilizzazione 2020

Nel 2020 avevamo previsto 5 campagne di sterilizzazione. Purtroppo a causa della pandemia di CoViD 19 siamo stati costretti a rinunciarvi. 

Questo il rapporto del primo semestre:

​

- il rifugio ha ospitato in media settanta cani e una quindicina di gatti.       

- abbiamo distribuito per gli animali di strada: 850 kg di cibo per cani e 55 kg di cibo per gatti. In rifugio sono stati consumati 3100 kg di crocchette per cani e 70 kg per gatti.       

- la nostra veterinaria Laura ha sterilizzato 74 animali, curato/operato 31 cani ricoverati in clinica in seguito ad incidenti stradali, 22 per interventi vari e 337 cani/gatti "visite quotidiane". Particolarità degli interventi sono stati: la rimozione di un sasso dallo stomaco di un cane, molteplici interventi maxillo-facciali dovuti a risse o incidenti, nonché cura di cuccioli con parvovirus (non sempre con esito positivo, purtroppo).   

- durante il semestre siamo riusciti a trovare una famiglia a Boavista per 15 cani mentre una femminuccia, Minnie, è stata adottata in Inghilterra. 17 gatti hanno trovato casa a Boavista;  

- molteplici problemi logistici ci hanno disturbato fin dall'isolamento. Con estrema difficoltà otteniamo farmaci veterinari dal Portogallo. Una spedizione richiede 1 mese e mezzo.        

- la prima campagna di sterilizzazione in collaborazione con la dott.ssa Margarethe era stata programmata dal 29.04 al 03.05. ma è stata annullata a causa del Coronavirus.          

- a febbraio abbiamo iniziato il processo per l'adozione in Europa di alcuni animali. Siamo stati in grado di preparare un totale di 20 cani e 1 gatto per l'esportazione all'estero. La procedura prevede: microchip, vaccino antirabbico, raccolta del sangue dopo 30 giorni dal vaccino, invio al laboratorio sierologico in Europa e se il test è positivo, l'animale potrà viaggiare a partire da 90 giorni dopo il prelievo. I sieri sono partiti per la Germania sull'ultimo aereo di rimpatrio TUI.      
In totale abbiamo ora 27 animali pronti per essere adottati in Europa. 

- Tra aprile e maggio sarebbero dovuti partire 6 cani e 1 gatto: Germania, Estonia, Lussemburgo, Italia, Paesi Bassi, Francia e Svizzera. Tutto è stato rimandato.      

- Stiamo finendo le gabbie centrali e siamo finalmente riusciti a realizzare il pavimento in cemento dei box esterni (fino ad ora erano metà cemento e metà sabbia); tutto è stato verniciato con resina epossidica per poter lavare e disinfettare in modo corretto e accurato.

Sterilization Campaign 2019

From 21st to 25th May

Again in collaboration with Tieraerztepool.de, 186 animals were sterilized/castrated.

From 30th July to 3rd August

In collaboration with Tieraerztepool.de, 164 animals were sterilized/castrated.

From 14 to 17 November

In collaboration with Tieraerztepool.de, 149 animals were sterilized/castrated.

Sterilization Campaign 2020

In 2020 we had planned five sterilisation campaigns. Unfortunately, due to the CoViD 19 pandemic we were forced to give up. 

​

This is the report for the first half year:

​

- the shelter was home to an average of seventy dogs and about fifteen cats.         
- We distributed 850 kg of dog food and 55 kg of cat food. In the shelter 3100 Kg were consumed for dogs and 70 Kg for cats.            
- Our veterinarian Laura sterilized 74 animals, treated/operated 31 dogs hospitalized after car accidents, 22 for various interventions and 337 dogs/cats "daily" care. Particularity of the interventions have been the removal of a stone from the stomach of a dog of property and multiple maxillofacial interventions due to fights or accidents of dogs.          
- during the semester we were able to find a family locally for 15 dogs and for 1 in GB. There were also locally 17 cats adopted;           
- logistical problems have been bothering us since lockdown. With extreme difficulty we obtain veterinary medicines from Portugal. A shipment takes 1 and a half months.   
- the first sterilization campaign in collaboration with Dr. Margarethe was scheduled from 29.04 to 03.05. but it was cancelled due to Coronavirus.             
- In February we started the process of preparing for adoption in Europe; they will be able to travel in June this year and in total we have 27 animals ready. We were able to prepare a total of 20 dogs and 1 cat for adoption and export abroad. The procedure includes: microchip, rabies vaccine, blood collection after 30 days from the vaccine, sending to the serology laboratory in Europe and if the test is positive, the animal will be able to travel from 90 days after collection. The sera left for Germany on the last TUI repatriation plane.           
- Between April and May, 6 dogs and 1 cat should have left for: Germany, Estonia, Luxembourg, Italy, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland. Everything was postponed.   
- we are finishing the central cages and we have managed to execute the concrete floor of the external cages; everything is painted with epoxy in order to wash and disinfect properly and thoroughly.
